Neighborhood Energy Texas (NET) was founded in 2023 by Dori Wolfe and Gabe Cuadra, two renewable energy pros with decades of experience promoting and expanding renewable energy. Their shared passion is helping more people benefit from climate solutions like solar.
After years of working in Texas, the NET team identified a major problem. Despite nearly 2 million Texas homes being good candidates for solar, just a fraction have rooftop panels. Only 25% of residents who want to go solar do so.
That’s where NET comes in. NET breaks down these barriers making it easier than ever for Texans to go solar. As a developer and operator of solar projects, NET connects residents who are ready to go solar to solutions they can use. Thanks to our network of progressive Retail Energy Providers, we'll help Texans save money with solar. For Texans who can't (or don't want to) put solar on their roof, NET is creating the first-ever community solar offering in the deregulated part of Texas. For Texans who want solar on their home, NET makes sure they can get a good rate for the power they produce. For everyone, NET offers on-bill financing to allow Texans to pay for solar in easy monthly payments.
Dori founded Wolfe Energy to share her passion for energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy, and has co-founded Neighborhood Energy Texas to bring community solar to Texas. She is an independent contractor with Solar United Neighbors, and was actively involved in early Solarize Houston efforts with Houston Renewable Energy Group. The Sunnyside Energy team she compiled was awarded the opportunity to develop a utility-scale solar farm on a former Houston landfill, complete with a 2 MegaWatt (MW) component to benefit the community. Since 2012, she has been working to bring community solar projects to fruition, including a 7 MW array in Strafford, Vermont which came online in 2017 and three other community-owned solar arrays since then. In 1998 she co-founded groSolar which grew to be a national renewable energy company. She has dedicated substantial volunteer time to educating students and communities in sustainable practices including developing an elementary school energy curriculum, composing children’s songs about energy, and lecturing on renewable energy. She volunteers in the steering committee of Citizens’ Climate Lobby Houston Chapter. Dori has a BSME degree from Cornell University.
